Corporate Capstone Project Workshop

The Analytics Consultancy Centre (ACC), Department of Statistics & ComputerScience, University of Kelaniya, organised two insightful workshop sessions in collaboration with the Department of Statistics & Computer Science on 25th September 2026, from 1.00 P.M. to 4.00 P.M., at A11 201, Faculty of Science. This workshop was organised as part of the workshop series for the Corporate Capstone Project course module, offered to final year undergraduates by the Department of Statistics & Computer Science. This series aims to support students in bridging academic knowledge and real-world professional practice.

Session 1: Key Elements of a Research Project and Writing the Literature Review

The first session was conducted by Dr. D. M. P. V. Dissanayaka, Director of the Analytics Consultancy Centre and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Statistics & Computer Science, University of Kelaniya.

The session introduced students to the key elements of a research project and the basics of writing a literature review. It covered research questions, objectives, methodology, research gaps, literature searching, and APA referencing. Students were also introduced to the responsible use of Generative AI in academic research.

Session 2: Work Smarter, Adapt Faster: Agile Survival Skills for Early Careers

The second session focused on Agile project management and professional skills. The session was conducted by:

• Mr. Lakmal Silva, Program Manager, Digiratna Technology Solutions

• Mr. Malith Rukshan Jayasinghe, Director, Lesova Holdings (Pvt) Ltd.

The session guided students preparing to enter the industry on how Agile approaches can be applied not only in professional environments but also in university work, academic projects, teamwork, and everyday situations. It emphasized adaptability, effective collaboration, and efficiency in managing projects and responding to challenges. Mr. Lakmal further highlighted the value of finding visionary mentors during the first job and encouraged students to begin their careerswithout waiting to perfect their CVs.
