Embarking on Excellence: Inaugural Ceremony for Batch 4 of the MSc in Computer Science
The Inaugural session of Batch 04 of the Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Science programme was successfully held on 07th February 2026 at the Faculty Board Room, Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya. The event marked the commencement of an inspiring academic journey for a new cohort of postgraduate students who are ready to advance their knowledge, research capabilities, and professional expertise in the field of computer science.
The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome address by Prof. N. V. Chandrasekara, who extended her greetings to the newly enrolled students and emphasized the importance of postgraduate education in enhancing academic excellence, innovation, and professional growth.
The session was further enriched by an inspiring address delivered by Senior Prof. L. B. D. R. P. Wijesundera, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Science. He congratulated the students on joining the MSc in Computer Science programme and encouraged them to actively engage with the learning opportunities, research activities, and academic experiences offered throughout their postgraduate journey.
Following the formal session, a networking session was organized, providing an opportunity for students, academic staff, and programme members to interact, exchange ideas, and build professional connections. The event concluded with an informative orientation session conducted by Dr. W. A. C. Weerakoon, Programme Coordinator of the MSc in Computer Science programme, who introduced students to the programme structure, academic guidelines, course requirements, research opportunities, and available facilities.
